Three More Cable Systems
Add ‘Cape League On Deck’
To Their Weekly Schedules

Three additional cable systems have been added to the “Cape League On Deck” network, according to an announcement from Terry Duenas, executive director of the Cape Cod Community Media Center, home base for the weekly half-hour show about the Cape Cod Baseball League.

Duenas, who also serves as one of the show’s executive producers, said residents of Marion, Rochester and Mattapoisett will now be able to watch it on their local cable access channels, joining viewers in all 15 Cape Cod towns, as well as in Plymouth, Kingston, Wareham, New Bedford and Martha’s Vineyard. For exact times and channels, viewers should call the cable system in their towns, Duenas said.

Any cable system interested in joining the “Cape League On Deck” network should contact Duenas at 508-394-2338. He pointed out that the program is available to cable operators nationwide.

“Cape League On Deck” debuted last Friday on a network that extends from Provincetown to New Bedford. The first program in the fast-paced, 10-week series featured coverage of the league’s Frank Finn Tryouts, its annual First Pitch Brunch and two exhibition games between Cape Leaguers and the touring U.S. Military All-Stars.

Other highlights included an introduction to the 10-member Class of 2009 of the Cape League Hall of Fame, which will be inducted in November, plus a demonstration of how baseball bats are manufactured at the Barnstable Bat Co. in Centerville. A moving tribute to Phil Edwards, recipient of the league’s 2009 Fred Ebbett Lifetime Achievement Award, also was presented.

Most participating cable systems are showing “Cape League On Deck” at 6 p.m. on Friday, followed by several repeat airings.

For example, the show’s home base at C3TV’s Channel 17 carries replays of the show at 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays, 5:30 p.m. on Mondays and 7:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. C3TV reachess viewers in Yarmouth, Barnstable, Dennis, Harwich and Chatham.

Duenas advised fans to check with their local cable systems for exact times and channels.

After each week’s initial airing, “Cape League On Deck” can also be viewed online using a link found on the home page of the Cape League’s Internet site, www.capecodbaseball.org.

All 10 Cape League franchises have begun streaming audio and video of their home games online, while the league itself has launched its weekly radio and Internet broadcast schedules. Director of Broadcasting John Garner said the action continues this Sunday with the broadcast on WXTK 95.1 FM featuring Wareham at Cotuit, starting at 5 p.m., and the Internet game Monday on WBZ103.com with Falmouth playing at Harwich starting at 7.

Garner will handle serve as commentator for both games. Larry Egan has the play-by-play assignment for WXTK and Scott Wahle calls the action for WBZ103.com.
